YOUR FIRST HIP HOP KRUSH>
I Come From The West Side Of Chicago IL Which is broke down into three areas K-Town L-Town And the M-Dub. I was born in K-Town Chicago,IL But really lived my whole life in L-Town.. Its really crazy cause growing up most people never knew about L-Town Until us youngsters started Claiming it letting people know what area they were from. See on the west side, most blocks start with either the letter K, L or M and depending what letter your block started wit that’s the area you was from.
The First time i feel in love with Hip-Hop had to be when i was five or six years old watching my dad in the house with his camera recording his self rapping and sing Bel Bev DeVoe “Posion” in are living room dancing I always did Michael Bevins part. My Pops loved that song. It was Mentally Rap smooth out on a R&B tip with a pop filling to it which means it was a lot going on. But i loved the way it sounded. It had me wanting to be a singer before i started rapping But that another story LoL.
Its hard to say which song got me into hip hop but I remember when i realized that hip hop was more then just music to me.. it was winter 1996 and rainy, that year the Fugees came out with “The score” and Tupac came out with “Don Killuminati”. My big Brother Quincy and I where going shopping for Christmas gifts, He’d let me listen to his tape player. I remember us just walking around taking the bus and me just listening to those two tapes all day. I was eleven years old and fell in love with the harmony of the Fugees “Ready Or Not’ and how TuPac Lyrics where very Passionate, even more when on the way home i Realized that on the Song “Me And My Girlfriend” he wasn’t talking about a girl but instead a gun. I was amazed how he was able to create something so deep like that and started listening to him more.
KRAZY STORY >
I Got A Lot of krazy stories But The one that changed my life had to be the summer when I was 20 years old turning 21 Living that fast life doing things my family didnt want me doing. I had just got a fresh order in and my auntie called telling my mom and my grandma what i was doing. They Became upset not agreeing with me so they told me to leave or stop Living that fast life (Don’t really like telling stories like this). Me being young, i had chose to leave and i remember before leaving the house, my grandma pulled me to the side with tears in her eyes and said If u are going to be Lets say a lord of vice then be the best god dam lord of vice u can be and i’m not talking about gang banging (I’m Not a gang banger its not my style).
That night i had stayed out south with my other auntie named Kasey who is like a second mom to me. I remember my auntie asking me what was I going to do now.. Me, be young and having a lot of pride i moved to Manhattan, Ny. There was an older woman I was talking to and was taking care of me (buying me whatever i wanted) that just moved there and wanted me to stay with her.
It was Like an adventure Because i had never been to Manhattan, Ny. It was full of bright lights and everyone moved like they had somewhere to go. It was a life I had Always dreamed of wanting. Sleeping in nice hotels with amazing room service tasting food u cant even pronounce, waking up to a beautiful woman that just wants to please you in any way u desire ( Like i was a young Prince or King) and buying me fly gear.
I was there four months maybe five months until i had got home sick and lonely not being able to see my friends, Little brother or just anyone in my family. But i was scared to go back to Chicago not knowing if i should come back because i was getting calls from friends and family telling me to just lay low shit was getting heavy in Chicago because of my past life.. Plus the older woman didn’t want me to go back she had became attached to me and loved having me by her side. It wasn’t until i realized that i was still young and had a whole life ahead of me to live and experience and that i didn’t really love her, just loved what she was doing for me and started having the urge to be a man and provide for myself. So I stopped being scared and came back to Chicago getting an apartment with a friend I had considered like a Big Brother (That’s another story ill tell maybe next time). Being In that situation and having an adventure in New York With her in my life had taught me a understanding that all money isn’t good money, be careful and sometimes its good to be off the radar as my little brother would say. It taught me to treat myself and not cheat myself by not always trying to take the easy road. Sometimes its OK to take the long road. You learn valuable qualities and that the world just don’t revolve around you (Your life isn’t just about you but about the people you love because what you do affects them to so mind your choices in life)
